Iran is ready to restart nuclear negotiations with the United States provided that it is approached with "dignity" and "respect", Tehran's top diplomat has announced.

The Iranian diplomat stated solely negotiations worked, and disclosed fresh requests had originated from intermediaries to resume talks with the American leadership. He asserted Iran possessed no undeclared nuclear sites, and Tehran could not yet permit the UN nuclear inspectorate to inspect struck enrichment centers for security reasons.

Navigating a Difficult Route

The foreign minister is walking a challenging path since Iran does not want be perceived to be operating from a situation of vulnerability, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had come out stronger in military terms and emotionally from the joint assault on its enrichment centers in June.

He was addressing at a strategic meeting in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "a fundamental entitlement to enrich uranium domestically that it will perpetually retain" – the main reason of the stalemate in the prior discussions.

Previous Negotiations Unexpectedly Terminated

The earlier sessions of talks between the United States and Iran were brought to an abrupt and bitter conclusion on 12 June when the Israeli government, with US support, attacked Iran's enrichment centers in a two-week conflict that concluded with the US president claiming the locations had been eliminated. Following this, EU nations used their authority to reinstate global restrictions, but Iran insists they have not had a substantial consequence.

Perfect Agreement Suggested

Tehran representatives said they felt they had reached a "perfect agreement" to the enrichment issue in prior discussions, when it was settled an local partnership with American involvement could process nuclear material. Each party would have been able to claim victory since home-based processing would have persisted and the US could be certain that Iran's enrichment initiative was exclusively peaceful.

It had not been agreed in the talks that Washington's technical specialists could function inside Iran, but that was a logical implication of the consortium proposal. Representatives stated three times they had reached agreement with Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff only for the agreement to disintegrate due to "detractors in America".

Current Status
